RIP Eartha Kitt

She sang songs in multiple languages, became one of the first African-American female sex symbols, took the Vietnam War protest directly into the White House (and seriously threatened her career–LBJ ordered that she be blacklisted from TV) and became a gay icon for her support of the gay community for years. No one could compare to her, and sorry Julie Newmar, Eartha for my money was the better Catwoman.

Here she is tearing up the audience during a performance of Cole Porter’s Love for Sale. I sincerely hope she’s surrounded in heaven by heavenly bodies like these!
