Twistin’ Time!

Tonight’s album is from Diplomat Records: The Twist by The Candymen, recorded probably around 1962.  As with a lot of albums from Diplomat and Crown, this might be a one-off record made by some session men. I know there’s a group called The Candymen who recorded for ABC Records in the mid-60’s. Maybe it’s them, maybe not, I don’t know.

This album of instrumentals comes off sounding a bit like surf rock, so I think it’ll appeal to a lot of you out there. As with a lot of these albums, the titles give reference to, or answer, a previous hit song, like “Spearmint Twist.”  Move those hips!

Twistin’
Doin’ the Twist
Stand Around Move Around
Goin Steady
Come Twist with Me
Spearmint Twist
New York City Twist
Candybar
I Really Love the Twist
Twistin’ Out of Space
Space Twist
Honey Twist
